Technical-scientific education is the basis of development and future success

I.I.S. “Viola-Marchesini” is the only secondary school in the province of Rovigo which can combine a long experience in the field of technical-industrial education with the largest choice of innovative courses in technological studies. Close collaboration with universities and local businesses allows the continuous updating of the teaching syllabus.

In particular, “F. Viola” Secondary School for Industrial Technical Education (I.T.I.) is one of the four schools that make up the whole Istituto di Istruzione Superiore “ViolaMarchesini”.

Our five specializations at the Via De Gasperi premises are:

  • MECHANICS, MECHATRONICS and ENERGY
  • ELECTRONICS and ELECTRICAL TECHNOLOGY
  • I.T. and TELECOMMUNICATIONS
  • CHEMISTRY, MATERIALS and BIOTECHNOLOGY
  • FASHION DESIGN

Through the study of these subjects our students can get the cultural and professional competences that enable them either to enter the world of work or to attend any university course successfully.

The five-year course of study (32 hours a week, 33 hours in the first year) is divided into :

  • a first Biennium including core subjects that are mostly common for all the students and gradually introducing them to the various specializations;
  • A second Biennium and a Fifth Year, in which the students choose one of the five specializations.

In the final year some technical topics are taught in English (CLIL).

After a state end-of-school examination, students become ‘technicians’ and get a secondary-school diploma in technical education.

COMMON BIENNIUM (FIRST AND SECOND YEAR)

Subjects: Religious Education or option activities, Italian, History, Geography, English, Maths, Law and Economics, Integrated Sciences (Earth Sciences and Biology, Physics, Chemistry), Technical Drawing and Graphics, Information Technology, Applied Sciences and Technology, Physical Education.

(Applied Sciences and Technologies introduce students to the different specializations of the third to fifth years and help them with their choice).

THIRD TO FIFTH YEAR

Common subjects give students core skills to continue in further education or to enter the world of work: Italian, History, English, Maths, R E, and P E.

Technical subjects differ according to the specialization and are mainly taught in 21 laboratories. The number of lab lessons varies from 7 to 10 hours per week.

WORK-RELATED LEARNING (Alternanza Scuola-Lavoro)

Since 2016 periods of internship during the school year have been compulsory by law and a key part of the reform to the curriculum of secondary education.

These schemes are addressed to students in their last three years. They aim at helping young people connect their learning with the world of work, develop the social and soft skills that employers value, build their enterprise capability, and make more informed choices about their career options.
